Summer Sabbatical!

We have reserved the famous village of Flash (the highest village in England, measured from sea level) for our summer sabbatical program. Get yourself there at your own expense, but all you need after that is enough gelt to stand a few rounds while indulging in the most absurd intellectual (and trivial) debates you will ever encounter. Entertainment will be provided by the famous 'Flash Fingers Frieda' on the piano, if she's still around. This is (or was) the best pub in England in the late 1980s, but you will just have to take a chance on it now as we cannot guarantee any reservations without reservation.

[There are 25 hot spots in this picture, initially labelled A-Z; can you guess which letter was left out? Go to the bottom of this page]

Admittedly, the weather ain't so good here, but that means you can spend more time in the pub. The photo shown above has been provided with hot-spot areas so you can 'eavesdrop' on some of the conversations. Hope you'll join us, and y'all come back, ya-hear?

Sept. 1997: Well, that's it until next year. Make your reservations early for 1998 -- we will be doing this again! (Hope we'll get some students this time.)

Sept. 1998: Well, that's it until next year. Make your reservations early for 1999 -- we will be doing this again! (Hope we'll get some students this time.)

Sept. 1999: Well, that's it until next year. Make your reservations early for 2000 -- we will be doing this again! (Hope we'll get some students this time.)

Sept. 2000: Well, that's it until next year. Make your reservations early for 2001 -- we will be doing this again! (Hope we'll get some students this time.)

Sept. 2001: Well, that's it until next year. Make your reservations early for 2002 -- we will be doing this again! (But we are going to have to find a new location.)

1998, only one more summer before Armaggedon (year 2000). Welcome back to our summer session, even if we have no one to welcome back except people who came in spirit on the Internet. Turnout was disappointing last year (zero), and it will be worse* this year, because the pub seems to be closed or not that active anymore. Celius has a new venue in the town of Leek, not that far away, and this town has lots of pubs and fish&chips shops and other good things. But you will have to find your own accommodation, because Celius does not supply a crash pad except to blood kin. * What's worse than zero? Academy dropouts, that's what.

Year 1999, Come on, Imbecilies, please patronize us!

Year 2000, a real bust, and we lost our deposit! We have been evicted! Got any new ideas for us for the next event?

Year 2001, 1200 guests! We had no room and had to scrounge among all the B&B's in Leek, Buxton, Stoke, and elsewhere! Had to hold our classes in the Roches rock formations (luckily the weather was good). Please RSVP us in future...

Year 2002, new location coming up! Does anybody know if the Brighton Pavilion is open for rentals?
