A horrendous event, but much over-reaction to it (compare it to what is going on
in Kosovo). What appalls and makes one sneer at the same time is exemplified by
the fact that the funeral parlor where one of the victims was being waked had the
"Titanic" theme on continuous loop. How tacky and soppy can you get? Maybe
these suburban hicks don't deserve any better to invoke nationwide sob sessions than our dear leader (Clinton) does when he feels their pain like his recent persecution.
This is all bullshit! Ban guns and all pre-military training of kids in the use, or even knowledge of them? Maybe. But that won't work in this country. Ban shoot-em-up video games? Get real! Imprison all the nerdy-types who aren't jocks or popular with
girls, or put them into penitentiary schools? Nah, I'd still be in penitentiary in that case.
Suburban development, along with strip malls, shopping centers, K-Marts, etc., has destroyed traditional American society. The first McDonald's was installed in Manhattan in the early 70's on W 96th St after being all over the rest of the country for 20 years. Now Big Mac is all over here too, and has helped to destroy the local breakfast diner industry. Walmart's and K-mart's destroyed what was left of the downtowns of other small towns and cities, and ruined Woolworth's (which to me should be a capital crime for those responsible). If that is the way of the rest of this country, that a high school in Colorado is the same as one in Missouri, then NY City should secede from the Union -- we have our own problems and don't need you jerks from over the Hudson to introduce new ones. My advice to the people in Littleton, CO (apart from my sincere sympathy) is to raze the entire community and move back to downtown Denver. Turn the area back into farmland, which it should have been left as in the first place. At least inner city schools are aware of Nazi-youth gangs or whatever, even if they can't do much about them. Suburban people are too stupid and involved in shopping by car to know what is going on. But are you people going to do that? Nah... you invested a hundred thousand dollars in your ticky tacky house, with a driveway and carport, and rules about keeping your lawn mowed at the same time as everybody else's, and your kids in the local non-inner city school drug and alcohol free. Wake up! And why why why do you think of bringing up yours boys in gun cultures, blasting away small animals (and I know, because I was brought up that way and was an absolute savage when I was the age of those Columbine teens, until I got older and learned some sense)? [And I always hung out with the nerd crowd, being inept at sports and always being picked, if at all, last at bat -- but all we did was sneer, smoke and drink before everybody else did, and put out a subversive 'newspaper' that mocked all the rah rah shit. In fact, I was rather popular with the school jocks, because I'd tutor them in their homework and get the exam answers in advance (don't ask me how I did that!) so I was a 'good' nerd, but they were still assholes.] Bottom line: Destroy all Suburbs |
