Columbine High School

Some responses to my Columbine Web Page

I agree with you. Some of my best experiences were going to High School on East 33 St. in Manhattan. Compared to people who went to high school in the suburbs, it was a much richer experience. Funny that the reason most people give to moving to the suburbs is because it is a better place to raise kids.

Did you see the movie "Heathers", a dark comedy of the early 1980s I think, staring Wynona Rider? It seems to have been a blue print for the guys from Columbine.

Dear Grobius,

Indeed I think you've hit the the nail on the head. What possible good are these suburbs! These ticky-tack people with their thoughts of superiority thinking that there better than the rest of us because they live in a detached house. What they are is BORING and as we now know exploiters and oppressers of those who wish to exhibit a free spirts as did the late TRENCH COATERS. They put you down if you don't dress like them, talk like them, eat the food they eat, walk like them; visualize and keep the same fucking bloody consciouness like they do!!! Don't get me fucjking started!!!

As a product of one of those high schools though I must also add that I didn't fight them I joined them. The Jocks!!! And just to juxtapose this I also must add that god what laughs I had, what fucking hours of sheer mirth and delight I experience demeaning and insulting my fellow FREAKS student while I was in high school. Oh god did we make all those misfits the obese pigs; girls with mustaches; any and all ugly people pay a terrible price for being a Dragon from Westbury High. {The Dragon was our school name you know what I mean?}

Grobius you well know that our culture and our ideas of humor revolve around who can be more hostile. All of TV is written with as you know with such hostility. Those idioic SIT-COMs grobius are all done with the idea of putting somebody down!! WAY DOWN! The further down the BETTER and FUNNIER!!!! And what do the people in rthe suburbs watch more than anything!!!!! You got it SIT-COMS.

Destroy Televison and you will destroy the insidious, vile, zero conciousness producing BURB!!!

To all...Not a sermon, just an observation...

It seems to me that all of these incidents take place in areas where "hunting" is a part of the way of life of the locals. Parents take their children out, at an early age, to learn the skills of hunting, a respect for guns and a complete DISREGARD for the lives of animals... These are places where one walks into a house and sees a shotgun or two mounted on the walls and the owners of those shotguns tell you how important it is for all Americans to understand their right to own, use and pass down to their children "the right to bear arms"....I know, I've met them in my travels around this country. I've often wondered how a person can look down the barrel of a rifle, into the eyes of a defenseless animal, and pull the trigger...knowing you would be taking that animals' life...And then, to compound that scenario, they take their 12yo son out and teach him to do the same...

Is it any wonder that these children, after learning to thrill to the act of killing, would only find it a small step to seek that same thrill at the expense of a fellow human? They worry about video games desensitizing young people?

Not all who learn to hunt are apt to turn those guns on humans, but to teach these kids that it is our "right" to allow any animal to live or die because we are superior, creates a dangerous precedent when a young person begins to feel he/she is superior to their peers, teachers, parents etc.

As we treat animals, so shall we treat ourselves...
